Music (favorites, new stuff you're checking out, etc.)
What kinds of bands are you guys listenin' to lately? I always have trouble listing my "Favorite band" or even my "favorite bands" because I listen to too much music, so I'm going to do this by genre.

John Mark Mcmillan
Punk:
Paramore

Selena Gomez**
Carly Rae Jepsen*
Justin Beiber**
Katy Perry**
New stuff I'm checkin' out:
Citizens - http://marshill.com/music/albums/citizens
Kaida actually introduced me to these guys, I think they're pretty sweet!
Andrew Huang* - http://andrewhuang.bandcamp.com/album/autumn
I was already into the rap this guy does, but he's a really talented musician that explores a lot of genres. I knew he had other stuff for a long time, but just recently decided to check it out. Some pretty sweet stuff!
Kopecky Family Band* - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpLDkzOWOvM
REALLY sick band my cousin just introduced me to. Really reminiscent of the Black Keys, but with a little more of an indie rock influence. Definitely likely to become one of my favorite bands. Their new album "Kids Raising Kids" is absolutely steller.
Darek Web - http://www.noisetrade.com/derekwebb
I found out about this guy from the guys over at Blimey Cow, and he's got some sweet tunes, and some pretty heavy lyrics that make you think.
*These artists aren't Christian, so if you try to stay away from secular music, just skip out on these if you're checking out some of the tunes I like
**These artists aren't Christian, and contain language that not all Christians approve of. Listen only if you're not offended by such things
So what are your favorites? What are you checking out now? Do we have any music taste in common?

Re: Music (favorites, new stuff you're checking out, etc.)
Haha, I wanted to make this topic too! You are also one of my favorite people ever now, if only because we seem to listen to some of the same music.
I don't know if I can categorize some of these, so I'll just go down. These 5 bands constantly change, but this is the current update
1. Three Days Grace (Since Adam left, I don't know what they're going to do, but...)
2. Paramore (Counting down to April 9th....)
3. Fall Out Boy (Counting down to April 15th...)
4. Imagine Dragons (I BARELY missed this concert. So mad.)
5. Flyleaf ( I missed Lacey's last concert ever!)
Then just another bunch that make up my other favorites:
Breaking Benjamin
The Black Keys
Florence and the Machine
Capital Kings
Eleventyseven
Coldplay
Fireflight
Phoenix
Tenth Avenue North (although I didn't really like the most recent album)
The Beatles
And a bunch of various other alt/rock bands. That's the genre I listen to most.
Other bands people have me listen to and I end up liking:
Graffitti6
Even if their songs are on Teen Wolf, they're still really good.
Lecrae:
Ben was talking about him, and I remember I heard some of his songs a few months ago that I really liked, so I looked him up again. I don't usually like rap, but I like Lecrae.
Phoenix
My friends kept pestering me, so I figured I would pretend to like it so they'd leave me alone. Little did I know that I would geniunely enjoy it!
I'm probably going to remember a bunch of other bands, but these are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Re: Music (favorites, new stuff you're checking out, etc.)
FF5 is a rock band? I could see you putting them in the "rap" section, or electronic, or maybe just making a new genre for "crunk", but "rock"? I dom't know... I guess they play guitars and stuff, but they aren'y really like any other "rock" bands I know of...

Re: Music (favorites, new stuff you're checking out, etc.)
I didn't know what category to put them under. If I had made a new genre row, it would look blank with just one band. So I put them in the "rock" section.
Wikipedia says they're, "Christian rock" and, "crunk rock". Since Wiki is to always be trusted, I just put them in the, "rock" genre.

Re: Music (favorites, new stuff you're checking out, etc.)
More recently their stuff hasn't had many rock elements at all, mostly just electronic stuff and rap. I liked them best when they were a "rock crunk" band though. Business up Front, Party in the Back is an solid album all the way through. I wish they hadda' held onto that style for a bit longer. Toby Mac was going in that directions a bit in the 90's too, eh? I forget which album that was now. I've gotta go re buy it.

Christina, I listen to wayyy to much music. That's barely any of the music I listen to.
Re: Music (favorites, new stuff you're checking out, etc.)
I just recently started listening to John Mark McMillon's album "Economy" and it's amazing... My sister and brother in law told me it was awesome a while ago, but I never bothered to listen to it much until a few weeks ago.

I forgot about this topic... >.> I would be posting more if I had remembered.
Vice Verses - Switchfoot
I'm finally taking the time to spend money on it. XD I was going to get it yesterday, but the Family Christian was closed. :~P But Lexi is going to town today, and she's going to get it.
(I have listened to this album all the way through on Spotify before. It's probably my favorite album by Switchfoot.) Can't wait for Fading West!!
